ertnittee: WHITEWATER BUILDING MATERIALS CORP. PAGE 2
Permit #: M-77-129
Operation Name: WHITEWATER 500 PIT
Anniversary Date: 09/22/04
(2) Sloping is complete on the 6.26 acres ± around parts of the
lake in Stage 2 (blue). The green cross hatched areas show
where we have material stored to create slopes in the area
along the east and north sides of the mined area. Only the
final grading is necessary on this area. Sloping is com-
plete on 1470 feet on the south side of stage B, C,. and D
(blue). There is approximately 65,000 cy of overburden
stored in Phase 2 - PARTS A, & B & Phase D that will be used
on the alpha stages and in Phase 2 - PART A as needed (or-
ange). These piles are in a constant state of flux as areas
are stripped and resoiled. The settling pond is still being
used to clean process water (tan). The stockpile on the
lake bottom in Phase 2 - PART A will be removed or leveled
as needed, shown as xx areas on the map. The access corri-
dor is being utilized to cross the highway when material
from the mined area is moved to the plant (heavy blue line).
Weed control continued this year on the area around the
active mine and on the area around Phase 1. we sprayed
Knapweed in October 2003 and on May 22 & 23, 2004 with water
soluble 2-4-D and CurtailTM. This is an uphill battle since
there is little or no control taking place on properties
surrounding the mine and seed is being wind blown in from
offsite areas that we have no control over. Spraying will
continue as needed. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will
not let us spray within 10 feet of the lake in Phase 1.
Knapweed was sprayed from August tenth thru the fifteenth
2004 with 2-4-D and Curtail'" in this area.
(3) Mining will continue on the north end of Stage 2 - PART B
this year. In Stage E the mine face will move to the east.
If more area is needed, we will resume stripping ahead of
the mining area in both stages where mining is taking place.
The operator will continue to stockpile growth medium along
the perimeters of the mined area so when sloping is done it
can be respread.
(4) Weed control will continue next year as needed. Bank slop-
ing and grading will continue in Phase 2 - part A that is
left to be shaped (green cross hatch). We are working with
the Bureau of Land Management to revegetate the land they
now control around and including Phase 1.
(5) The current contact for this pit is:
Mr. Mark Gardner (970) 242-7538
Whitewater Building Materials Corp. Fed Tax ID #
940 South 10th Street
Grand Junction, CO 81502
