Banks and Gesso LLC <br />' or fourth mining year. The aggregate processing equipment may be relocated <br /> to the pit floor as sufficient room is created by mining. This will minimize visual <br />' impacts as well as permit final removal of raw materials in Areas 1 and 3. <br /> Phase 2 <br />' After Area 1 and half of Area 3 have been mined, the buildings in Area 2 will be <br /> removed in preparation of wet-mining. Concurrent mining of Areas 2 and 3 will <br /> provide the Applicant sa source of raw material to process during the high water <br />' seasons. <br /> Phase 3 <br /> After all materials havE: been mined, all processing equipment in Area 1 will be <br /> removed to facilitate final reclamation of these areas. The eastern slope of Area <br /> 1 and the backfill to grade in Area 2 will consist of shale materials excavated <br />' from the floor of Area 'l. Stockpiled topsoil materials will complete reclamation <br /> earthmoving requiremf:nts. Final grading and scar cation will prepare reclaimed <br /> lands for seeding. <br /> <br />Description of Overburden. Deposit and Underlying Stratum <br />t Based on the exploratory boreholes, the topsoil-overburden ranges from one to <br />eleven feet, averaging 5.8 feet in depth. Based on the number of vegetable and <br />other agricultural crop:; grown in surrounding areas, the topsoils are anticipated <br />' to be very fertile for rec:lamation efforts. <br />' The alluvial deposit to be mined varies in thickness from eleven to twenty-five <br />feet in depth, averaging 20.8 feet. It varies from fine sand and gravels in the <br />upper zones, to coarse sand and larger cobbles near bedrock. It has a <br />' reputation for being processed into high-quality concrete aggregates, asphalt <br />aggregates, and other construction materials. <br />' The underlying bedrock on the property is the Denver / Arapahoe shale. <br />' Primary and Secondan/ Commodities <br />The primary commodity to be extracted is the alluvial sand and gravel. It will be <br />processed and sold as concrete aggregates and other construction aggregates. <br />' The secondary commodities to be sold, subject to reclamation requirement <br />quantities, are topsoil and overburden materials. <br />' (h) Incidental Products <br />The Applicant will seek local permits to allow recycling of asphalt and concrete <br />materials. The materials will be processed into crushed base-course, structural <br />' fill, and feedstock for asphalt production.
