1980
ANNUAL REPORT
CASTLE SAND PIT
77-213
ANNIVERSARY DATE SEPTEMBER 27, 1978
~~
INTRODUCTION: This Annual Report follows Rule 2.41 of the rules
and regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board. It
draws upon information in the permit .file, the 1979 Annual Report,
and the continuing development at the mine site itself. The
information presented consists of item by item responses to the
items in Rule 2.41.
Rule 2.41 (1): The mining and reclamation permit issued
September 27, 1978, was for not more than 32 acres of affected
land as indicated in the permit application file. During the first
year the operation affected 14 acres of land within the permit
boundaries with no land affected outside the permit boundaries.
In the 1979-1980 permit year this acreage expanded to 15± 0.5 acres.
This is less than the two additional acres anticipated to be affected
and so indicated in the 1979 Annual Report and reflects the reduced
demand for these products during the recessionary economy of the
past year.
The expansion of the pit was in a west to southwesterly
direction. Although difficult to tell precisely without surveying,
it appears as though the edge of the extraction zone is in the
extreme western portion of Tract B. This is consistent with the
nom,.,, , .,E c
