The average rate of production
for 1989 was 28 ,046 tons per day on a thirty day per month
schedule. The 1989 year end work force was 560 employees.
RECLAMATION AREA ACTIVITIES
Reclamation of disturbances as they occur and efforts to
minimize disturbance by planning and reduction of unnecessary uses
continues to be the goal of the Henderson Mine and Mill . Treatment
in the following areas demonstrate adherence to this guideline:
Mined Land Reclamation Division personnel inspected the mine
site in July 1989 and the mill site in August 1989. Inspection
reports were received in November 1989.
As stated in the 1988 annual report, sampling of the soil-
tailing test plot was done in August 1989. Soil and vegetation
samples were analyzed for a number of essential elements and heavy
metals. Vegetation analyses demonstrate that no metal is present
in concentrations that could be toxic to plants. Soil analyses
indicate that soil has become more acidic and saline over time.
Monitoring of both soil and vegetation in the test plots will
continue at 4 to 5 year intervals and should provide dates to help
ensure successful and self-sustaining revegetation of the! tailing
area.
