The soil replacement <br /> thickness information is used to adjust soil salvage depths, if necessary, and for bond <br /> release purposes. Sampling rs conducted on a 500-toot grid. Soil th rckness for the 1999 <br /> reclamatron blocVa ranged from 1.0 [0 1.75 feet . See [he Soils Tab section for the complete <br /> report on soil survey work done rn 1999. <br />Soil Replacement Technique <br />The sorl replacement a[ea for the 1999 freld season is shown on drawing 2w99-2B. Soil was <br />replacetl on 108.5 acres of final graded slopes in the "A", "B" and "C" pi[ areas. Sorl was <br />direct hauled from salvage areas ahead of the "A" pit and also redistributed from <br />stockpiles CC, FF, HH and SS. Stockpiles HH and SS were completely redistributed onto <br />graded spoil and [he "C" pi[ hi ghwall reduction area, while FF was completely redistributed <br />onto graded spoil rn the "A" prt. <br />• Soil Balance <br />SCC is submi[ti nq [he soil balance with the Annual Reclamation Report as required by Permit <br />C-82-057, Tab 21, Pages 5, 32, antl 33, and as recommended by Sectron <br />32.04.13(2) of Colorado's Regulations for Coal Mining. The soil balance is completed to <br />ensure soil is salvaged, s[oc hprled, and replacetl as recommended and approved in the <br />pe rmiC, and, t[ necessary, [o re adjust [he so rl salvage and redrst[ibuiron thickness. The <br />soil information rs also used [o update [he soil volume rnf orma[ion previously submitted <br />wr th the 1998 Annual Reclamation Report (SCC, 1999) and confirm the mean soil replacement <br />thrckness for the firs[ two fr ve-year permit terms. <br />Sotl .Salvage and Storage <br />The drsturbance area from whrch soil was salvo ged and the soil scockptle srtes as of <br />December 31, 7555 are she~wn on drawing 2w99-2A. During 1999, soil was tmported to <br />stocV:pa les J and F, while topsoil was exported from piles CC, FF, HH and SS. <br />The accual vol mm~ of soil salvaged and s[ock.prled from 1989 through December 31, 1999 was <br />Jetermrned by r. eid survey of e:u sung soil s[otage stockpiles.
