Ms. Christine Johnston
Mountain Coal Company
Page 10
August 23, 1996
the water year (see Appendix F and Appendix H). This makes the report
more compact and reduces the number of tables presented in the report. The
Division recommends that this should be done with surface water baseline
values as well, in future AHRs. Please revise the Table of Contents under
Appendices, Appendix E only contains a comparison of baseline minimum and
maximum values for surface water. As previously stated, a comparison of
baseline values for spring water and groundwater were provided in Appendix
F and Appendix H, respectively.
11. The following required analytical data are missing from the groundwater
monitoring data in Appendix H, Table H-1.
• Field parameters for well SG-1 were not provided.
• Mn is missing for GP-1.
• No samples were collected from wells GP-3 and GP-4 throughout WY
1994.
• Fe and Mn are missing for one of the three required sample rounds
for well SOM-16-H. '
• pH and specific conductance are missing for all three required sample
rounds and TSS is only provided for one of the three required sample
rounds for well SOM-C-72-H.
• pH, specific conductance, and TSS are missing for all three sample
windows for well SOM-129-H.
• pH, specific conductance, and TSS are missing for all three sample
windows for well SOM-128-H.
Please provide an explanation why these required data were not collected or
if they are available provide them in a revised report page. If sample
collection is a problem for various wells, the Division recommends
redeveloping certain wells (SG-1, GP-5, SW-2, SW-5, and SW-6) to remove
the silt/mud and increase grotmdwater flow into the well.
12. There are two explanations and two footnotes for footnote 1 for Appendix H,
Table H-1. Please clarify and provide revised report pages.
