West Elk Mine 2003 Annual Hydrology Report 35 <br />Several of the Project's monitoring wells (SOM-2H, SOM-16H, SOW-1, SOM 45-H1, and 96-27- <br />1)are no longer functional because of casing failure. These wells can not be monitored and should <br />be eliminated from the monitoring system. A series of new monitoring wells installed in <br />September 2003 rep]aced these non-functional wells to more effectively encompass the current and <br />future mining areas.
