West Elk Mine 2003 Annual Hydrology Report <br />3.2.3.6 Spring G-15 <br />Spring G-25 is in the Gribble Gulch drainage and is north of the Jumbo Mountain mine panels. It <br />issues from alluvium and flows into a holding pond. This spring has perennial flow which <br />diminishes in late summer. <br />3.2.3.7 G-35 <br />Spring G-35 is on the north flank of Jumbo Mountain in an unnamed drainage west of Gribble <br />Gulch which is tributary to the North Fork. This spring is on the north edge of the Jumbo <br />Mountain mine panels. The' spring issues from alluvium and flows into a holding pond where <br />water is present during wet climatological cycles. <br />3.2.3.8 G-49a <br />Spring G-49 is on the north flank of Jumbo Mountain west of Gribble Gulch in an unnamed <br />drainage tributary to North Fork. The spring is north of the Jumbo Mountain mine panels. Flow is <br />perennial, but diminishes in autumn. This spring issues from alluvium and is measured at the end <br />of an outflow pipe from an enclosed spring house. <br />3.2.4 Springs above the E seam in the Dry Fork Drainage Basin <br />3.2.4.1 J-4 <br />Spring J-4 is in East Gulch East of Horse Gulch and is tributary to Dry Fork and Minnesota Creek. <br />It is south of the SE mine p:mels and north of the South Lease Tract panels. This spring issues <br />from alluvium, is seasonal and is normally dry in late summer or autumn. <br />3.3 Ground Water Monitoring <br />There are 19 wells in the WY2003 ground water monitoring network, the same as in WY2002. In <br />September 2003, MCC installed five additional monitoring wells (upper Dry Fork alluvial, lower <br />Dry Fork Alluvial, SOM-3F; SOM-3B, and 03-11-1). These wells were not developed and <br />sampled until October 2003 smd water quality data for these wells are not presented in this report <br />but will be presented in the WY2004 AHR. <br />The monitoring wells are divided into the following 7 categories: <br />• Facility Area Wells and Alluvial Wells <br />• • Permit Area Wells completed in Barren Member above F Seam <br />• Permit Area Wells completed in F Seam <br />16 <br />September 2004 HydroGea, InC. <br />
