West Elk Mine 2003 Annual Hydrology Report <br />3.2.1.2 Spring26-1 <br />Spring 26-1 is located in a drainage on the west side of the Deep Creek drainage between surface <br />monitoring stations upper Deep Creek and lower Deep Creek. Deep Creek is tributary to Raven <br />Gulch and the N. Fork. This. spring is above the east side of mine Panel 15 (east mine panel area) <br />and issues a sandstone bed above the F Coal Seam. This spring has perennial flow but shows <br />strong seasonal variations with high flows in the spring months. <br />3.2.1.3 E14-1 <br />E14-1 is a seep located in the in upper Box Canyon which is tributary to the N. Fork and is above <br />the Box Canyon Panel area. This seep issues from a sandstone bed above the E Coal Seam and <br />has never flowed. It is damp only during very wet spring months, but is typically dry. <br />3.2.1.4 Spring 27-1 <br />Spring 27-1 is located in the upper Sylvester Gulch (tributary to N. Fork) and feeds an area known <br />as twin ponds. This spring issues from alluvial sediments and is measured at the end of a plastic <br />drain pipe. The spring is above the south side of mine Panel 15 (east mine panel area). <br />3.2.1.5 Spring G-7 <br />Spring G-7 is located in a western tributary to Sylvester Gulch and is south of the NE mine panel <br />area and north of the SE panel area. This spring issues from joints in a sandstone ledge and has <br />perennial flow but shows strong seasonal variations with high flows in the spring months. <br />3.2.1.6 Spring G-16 <br />Spring G-16 is located in Sylvester Gulch east of the NE mine panel area. This spring flows <br />seasonally and is typically dry in the late summer and fall. It issues from a sandstone bed above <br />the F Coal Seam. <br />3.2.1.7 Springy <br />Spring G-24 is located in Sylvester Gulch east of the NE mine panel area. This spring flows <br />seasonally and is typically dry in the late summer and fall.
