1,
3. No water levels were presented for the wells monitored. Water levels
are to be taken any time field parameters or a water quality sample
are taken. Were water levels taken?
4. Site TR-1 exhibits the highest TDS concentrations of any alluvial
well. It also appears the well is showing an increase in several
parameters since baseline. The report states that the reason for
this is unknown but that the well is located above the mine, thus
ruling out mining as causing the potential effects. The permit
states that this well was installed adjacent to an abandoned
underground mine which would serve as an explanation of the poor
water quality. Is there an underground mine adjacent this well? If
not, does P & M have any projections as to why this wel] is
indicating an increase in several parameters?
B. WILDLIFE
The data presented for 1984 seems to indicate that the mine area may
be used as key wintering areas for deer and elk. The report text
states that this area is not critical. The Division would like
additional information to support P & M's statements that this is not
a key wintering area.
If you have any questions or want to set up a meeting to discuss these
comments, please contact me.
Sincerely,

Anne C.
