mustard comprised nearly one-quarter while bull thistle, hound's tongue, yellow sweetclover, • <br />i pennycress, and salsify were minor contributors. Burning-bush (B~as~i~ sieversiana), aarly <br />stickseed, tarweed, white sweetclover ( lil ~), Russian thistle, and mullein <br />i (Verbascum Ihapsus) were present. Linearleaf collomia, a native annual forb, averaged 0.2 <br />percent of total vegetation cover. Western rockjasmine (Androsace occi lis), tumbling <br />saltbush, oakleaf goosefoot, Richardson tansymustard, dragonhead (Dracoceohalum <br />parviflorum), and denseflower pepperweed (L i~ ilium densiflorum) were present. Introduced <br />perennial (orbs averaged 16.6 percent of total vegetation cover. Alfalfa, Canada thistle, and <br />titer milkvetch each accounted for roughly one-third of this percentage. Dandelion was also <br />~ present. Native perennial (orbs averaged 8.1 percent of total vegetation cover and were the <br />most diverse lifeform. American vetch accounted for nearly one-third of this lifeform's cover. <br />Together, blueflax, showy goldeneye, and Pacific aster contributed an additional third. <br />Groundsmoke, gumweed, horsemint ( Hard is ulos var. menthifolia), Rocky Mountain <br />penstemon, and James starwort provided the balance. Western yarrow, nettle-leaf giant <br />hyssop, pasture sage, arrowleaf balsamroot, Eaton thistle, marsh-elder (!,vclachaena <br />xanthifolia), showy fleabane, white-flowered peavine, mountain bluebellaa, false dandelion <br />(Nothocalais cuspidata), wild tarragon, common yampa, varileaf scorpior~weed ( Celia <br />i heterophylla), and figwort (Scrophularia lanceolata) were also present. Saskatoon • <br />serviceberry and big sagebrush, native shrubs, each contributed half of this lifeform's 0.4 <br />percent of total vegetation cover. Utah serviceberry (Amelanchier utah~~,nsis), rubber <br />i rabbitbrush, chokecherry, bitterbrush, and mountain snowberry were present. <br />Total vegetation cover averaged 46.9 percent while standing dead, litter, bare soil, and rock <br />cover averaged 1.2, 33.9, 14.7, 3.3 percent, respectively. Species density averaged 32.8 <br />species per 100 sq. m. <br />i <br />Production <br />Alfalfa averaged 144.5 pounds of biomass production per acre while all other vegetation <br />averaged 1,830.2 pounds per acre (Table 8). Total biomass production averaged 1,975.3 <br />pounds per acre. <br />Native shrubs averaged 250.9 individuals per acre (Table 9).
