I identified and seeded eleven of
fifty-seven drill sites (see attached notes) or 5,060 sq. ft. or 0.12 acres
with a total of 28 lbs of seed, which is a rate of 233 lbs/acre, (roughly 100#
P.L.S. applied to 0.02x of the Section).
Contrary to last winter's inspection with rir. Hayes, I had a map with all 57
holes on it as well as distances and directions to each hole (see attached).
riy compass directions and parings seemed good on all the holes definitely
identified. That is, they were within a 150' radius of where the map and
calculations indicated.
I also seeded a blowout near 17-51 and the trail or road area near 17-56 and a
large dusting area near 17-24. I noted other large weedy and bare areas that
were not the result of drilling. It is important to note that our drill rig
is truck mounted and only 6' wide. We often drilled 4 holes/day, the only
disturbances were the two 8'" holes (pilot and core hole) and a pit 10' x 20'
for the drilling mud that contained a biodegradeable soap. There were also
ruts made by trucks and dozer which are now indiscernible so I was searching
for small areas of disturbance.
