Henderson Mining Permit No. 77-342 <br />February 21, 1983 <br />Page Two <br />MINE SITE <br />Willow cuttings collected and grown <br />at various wet locations in the mineyard. <br />bypass ditch was constructed in the lower <br />subsequently seeded and fertilized. <br /> <br />onsite were planted <br />A spring runoff <br />mineyard and wtis <br />Modifications and improvements to the potable water <br />storage area involved some earthmoving and this disturbance <br />was also revegetated with grass seed, tree transplants, rind <br />shrubs. <br />Sinking of No. 5 exhaust ventilation shaft continued <br />until the end of the third quarter. Development rock from <br />the shaft was deposited on a former settling pond site in the <br />mineyard. This will provide additional flat storage spat:e in <br />the mineyard. <br />MILL SITE <br />Tree density at the mill site was increased with the' <br />addition of 5,800 seedlings at selected locations in Areeis 19 <br />(mill water return line), 20 (seepwater canal), and 21 <br />(topsoil berm, roads). These trees were special-ordered <br />mycorrhizal inoculated seedlings. Other areas where minor <br />construction disturbances occurred (#3 tail dam pumphousE~ <br />(9), railroad gravel pit storage yard (11), and Ute Park <br />pumphouse (20)) were revegetated. <br />Area 9 - Continued tailing deposition and the associated <br />tailing water pool now affect about 593 acres. That figure <br />and approximately 134 acres of other disturbances <br />(interceptor canal, access roads, storage areas) inside t:he <br />tailing basin were well within the 930 acres of maximum <br />anticipated affected lands estimated for the tailing <br />deposition area by December 1982. Initial construction of <br />the new interceptor canal commenced in late spring with <br />timber clearing affecting about 69 acres. Logs were racked <br />in designated areas to be made available for employee <br />firewood usage. Further construction on the canal shoulcl be <br />confined mostly to the area cleared in 1982. Disturbance <br />within Area 9 (tailing deposition area) will account for an <br />additional approximately 32 acres during the 1983-1984 <br />period. <br />Area 21, Soil Stockpile - Timber was cleared from ttie <br />topsoil stockpile area north of the tailing dam and about: <br />
