The Seueca II-W PHC predicts an annual average TDS value of 2630 mq/1 far Well WW1C, while
a value of 1015 mq/1 raa observed this year. Fox Wall WW17, a value of 3002 mg/1 xas •
predicted, while a value of 800 mg/1 was observed thin yeaz.
Compaziaon of Ground Water Quality to Water Usa Standards. SCC has compiled lists of
standards for irrigation (Table 5) and livestock (Table 6). Theca lists are composed
mostly of Colorado Depaztment of Health (CDOH) standazda, although other agencies'
atandazda have been used if they are more stringent or if the CDOH has no standard fox a
particular parameter. Sea SCC'a Yoast Mine Permit Application, Tables 7-21 and 7-23, for
a more detailed explanation of these standards.
Table 7 provides a comparison of ground rater quality to irrigation standazda. Standards
that rare exceeded are boron (one well), cadmium (one rell), chlorides (one wall), iron
(two Nells), manganese (seven relle), molybdenum (one well), dissolved solids (four
wells), and sulfates (ten rella).
Table S provides a comparison of ground rater quality to livestock standards. Standards
that were exceeded aze dissolved solids (two wells) and sulfates (two walla).
At the Seneca II-W shop roll (Well 201TC) , CDOA drinking rates standards rare used to
datazmine its suitability. The secondary standard fox iron (0 .3 mq/1) was exceeded rith
values of 2.29 and 1.95 mq/1. The secondary standard for manganese (0.05 mq/1) raa
exceeded with values of 0.11 and 0.11 mg/1. However, bottled water is consumed at Seneca
II-W. Also, since the aquifer for the shop roll (Trout Creak Sandstone) atazte at 280
feet belor the wedge Coal and is eapazated by confining shale layers, rater from this wall
should not ba affected by mining and, therefore, reflects the natural chazactaristica o!
the aquifer.
Tab 7 of the Seneca II-W PAP contains a section that discusses the suitability of using
rater from the various aquifers monitored at the Seneca II-W Mina for irrigation or
livestock watering. The discussion mentions that all aquifers at the Seneca II-W Mina
have exhibited several pazameter concentrations in excess of both irrigation and livestock
standards compazed, rendering them goes tionabla ragazding their suitability for either
irrigation or livestock. All bedrock aquifers affected by mixunq have bean determined to
have transmiasivities lees than 1 ft2/day, rhich rould also preclude their vac for •
yielding sufficient rater for irrigation, oz even liwatock.
6
