At the end of each day of operation,
the operator shall compact all wastes received into a cell, and
shall cover the cell with a layer of compacted earth obtained
from excavation of the trench, approximately 6-inches thick to
form an intermediate layer with a total thickness of about 1 foot.
' Final cover, approximately 2 feet total depth, will be compacted
over the top of the final lift used to fill the trench. T:~e final
cover will be placed in 6-inch lifts with each lift compacted
before the next one is placed. The final cover will be slightly
below the level of the access road to provide drainage off the
area and into the tailings pond.
' Cover material placement and operation sequences of the landfill are
well illustrated on the following drawing, Trench Construe:ion
Details.
' Rodent Control. Rodents are not anticipated to be a major problem
in the operation of the sanitary landfill. If a problem does develop,
' a two to three week extermination program using anticoaguleint poisons
may be initiated. The County Sanitarian shall be consulted if a
rodent or major insect problem develops.
' T es of Wastes Not Acceptable. Toxic substances, explosives, radioactiv
wastes, large ea anima s, and burning or smoldering material will not
be accepted at the landfill. Also, the disposal of appliances,
' wire and other metal objects and the disposal of trees, timber,
shrubs, and other miscellaneous items will not be permitted at this
landfill site.
' Recycling. No single material is expected to constitute a large
percentage of the waste and the total volume of waste will tie small.
' therefore, recycling, although conceptually desirable, is not considered
feasible and is not considered in the operations plan.
Cleanup. The site and access roads shall be inspected each operating
' day. At the end of each day of operation, all wind blown debris will
be cleaned up by hand from all fences and other boundaries in order
to maintain the site in a neat appearance. All necessary hand tools
t such as shovels, rakes, "toad stabbers," and shoulder bags for
retrieval of wind blown debris shall be provided by the Town.
J
' -27-
