ore was produced, but the drifts were barred down and
cleaned up so that a technical evaluation could be made of
the ore body. Underground radiometric probing, mapping and
feasibility study was done to see if mining was warranted.
Status of Mine
The mine at this time is being checked on a routine basis.
Any maintenance work noted is then scheduled as needed to
keep the mine in a ready state. This mine is in the Salt
Wash Formation.
Minina Plan
The mine will be operated as an intermittent operation until
such time as the market does improve. At that time the mine
will be placed into production. Activities similar to those
which have occurred will continue to take place until this
time. Surface and underground work will continue to help
improve the ore reserves and the long range mining plans.
UMETCO proposes to continue its operation of the Burros Mine
until such ore reserves have been mined. At that time the
permitted reclamation plan will be implemented.
Umetco Minerals hereby request a technical revision to place
the Burros Mine Permit no. M-77-297, in an intermittently
active status as defined by rule 1.6.2(2)(d). This
classification will best describe the current mode of
operation.
If there is any questions, please call.
Sincerely,
2e.'~°~.--~ .
Randy E. Marsln~l
Superintendent .if Mines
