Map 1, Reclamation Map, outlines the general location and extent of site reclamation <br />and maintenance activities completed during 2002, as well as prior reclamation activities. These <br />activities are described in more detail in the folloa~ng sections. <br />1.0 MINING, DISTURBANCE, AND BACKFILLING, GRADING, AND SOIL <br />MATERIAL REPLACEMENT <br />No mining occurred and no additional areas were disturbed during the reporting period. Final site <br />reclamation, undated in August 2001 and completed in August 2002, included the following <br />activities, conducted in accordance with the approved reclamation plans (Section 2.05.4 of <br />approved DMG Permit): <br />• Removal and salvage of all usable equipment and supplies <br />• Sealing and backfilling of mine portals <br />• Disassembly and salvage or demolition of all surface structures and facilities <br />• Demolition of concrete pads and foundations <br />• Disposal of demolition debris in approved locations <br />• Backfilling and grading of surface disturbance areas (included mine facilities area, <br />remaining portions of refuse disposal area, Ponds 1, 2, and 3, and roads and ancillary <br />facilities areas) <br />• Reestablishment of site drainage <br />• Soil material replacement (included backfilled and regraded aeeas identified above) <br />These activities resulted in reclamation of approximately 68.6 acres of disturbed lands (includes <br />portions of refuse disposal area previously reclaimed), as shown on Map 1, Reclamation Map. <br />2.0 SEEDED OR PLANTED AREAS AND REVEGETATION MONITORING <br />During the reporting period, temporary cover seeding was completed to stabilize newly reclaimed <br />areas until moisture conditions are adequate for permanent seeding. Areas reseeded included the <br />mine facilities azea, remaining portions of refuse disposal area, Ponds 1, 2, and 3, roads and <br />ancillary facilities areas, and the Monarch Fan area. <br />
