R.98W.. 6th P.M. <br />Sec. 16, N1/2 NE1/4, SW1/4 NE1/4, W1/2, and NW1/4 SE1/4; <br />Sec. 17, (all-; <br />Sec. 20, NE1/4 NE1/4; <br />Sec. 21, NW 1 /4 NW 114. <br />The area described contains 1200 acres. <br />The total area contained within the four sodium leases is 8,358.14 acres. <br />The location of the principle operation is: T.15., R.98W., Section 26. The access <br />road crosses portions of Sections 25, 26, 35 and 36 of T.1 S., R.98W and Section <br />31, T.1S., R.97W. and Section 6, T.2S., R97W. Figure 2-1 shows the four <br />sodium lease tracts, plant site, access routes for road and power and monitoring, <br />• water and production wells. <br />2.3 Leasehold Status <br />The sodium leases were issued July 1, 1971. Following exploration drilling and <br />bulk sampling by solution mining, permit applications to allow construction and <br />operation of a 3ton-per-hour (TPH) pilot solution mining facility were submitted on <br />October 4, 1983 and approved February 9, 1984. On May 2, 1986, an EA fora 6 <br />TPH pilot-scale operation was approved by the BLM. On November 20, 1987 the <br />BLM approved NaTec's Mine plan for acommercial-scale (125,000 TPY) nahcolite <br />solution mine. Construction started in May, 1990 for the facilities. A 1990 <br />Project Status and Annual Plan of Development report was submitted to the BLM <br />on December 26, 1990. This annual report is a requirement of the Lease and <br />• Record of Decision (ROD). On January 17, 1991, a revised mine plan was <br />submitted to the BLM with approval January 31, 1991.
