(BMRI) -San Luis <br />DMG Permit No. M-88-112 <br />1998 Annual Report <br />Dear Mr. Dillie: <br />The following is a summary of activities at BMRI's San Luis Mine during 1998. <br />Reclamation Activities <br />The following is a description of reclamation activities for 1998. (See attached map.) <br />San Luis Valley Earthmovers (SLV) placed 179,244 cubic yards of material in the Tailings <br />Impoundment to cap the tailings, attain grade, and replace the top soil. <br />1,600 rocky mountain juniper seedlings were planted on the main embankment of the Tailings <br />Impoundment and approximately seventy eight (78) acres in the Tailings Impoundment were drill <br />seeded. The following approved seed mixture was used: <br />Soecies(ols) Ibs/acre <br />Western Wheatgrass 4 <br />Slender Wheatgrass 3 <br />Blue Grama 2 <br />Indian Ricegrass 2 <br />Mountain Muhly 1 <br />Spike Muhly 1.05 <br />Mountain Mahogany 0.5 <br />Winterfat 0.5 <br />Slender Wheatgrass, Spike Muhly, and Mountain Mahogany were not available. Mountain <br />Brome, Cicer Milkvetch, Winterfat and Small Bumet were used in their place. Southwest Seed <br />Inc. recommended these seeds as closely resembling the seeds that they were to replace. <br />The DMG approved of the seed substitutions. <br />
