<br />1.0 Introduction <br />1.1 R.~port Contents <br />' New Castle Energy Corporations 1985 Annual Hydrologic <br />Report contains information needed to meet the require- <br />ments of Permit Stipulation t7o. 3, Coal Ridge t:o. 1 <br />D:ir.ing and Reclamation Permit, File No. C-85-G65. <br />Additicnal information is included which provides an <br />update of the ongoing ground water and surface water mon- <br />itoring program. For consistency, all updated information <br />is presently in the same format used in the permit <br />application. <br />1.2 Activities in 1985 <br />Y7ater mcnitoring began the construction phase schedule <br />in August, 1985 in anticipation of the October 15, 1985 <br />construction start-up. Actual driving of the rock tunnels <br />began cn tiovember 25, 1985. By the end of December 1985, <br />the rock tunnel at Portal tao. 1 was 143 feet deep and 203 <br />feet deep at Portal No. 2. There has been no inflow <br />of water in the tunnel nor has there been any water dis- <br />charged from the mine property under the A'PDES permit. <br />2.0 hydrologic Monitoring <br />2.1 Data Collection <br />Nineteen-eighty-five was a transition year between the <br />baseline monitoring of 1983-1984 and the beginning of <br />operational monitoring in mid-1985.
