JO DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT, Water Quality Control Division
- Page 1 ], Permit No. CO-0034142
D. Additional Terns and Conditions '
_~
Signatory and Certircction Requirements: Signatory and cert~cation requirements for reports andsubmitials~are ducussed in
Part I.E.6. of the permit.
E. WasleMinimization/PollutionPreven~'on
Waste minimization and pollution prevenrion are two terms that are becoming increasingly more common in industry today. Waste
minimization includes reducing the amount ofwaste at the source through changes in industrial processes, and reuse and recyclingof
wastes for the original or some other purpose such as materials recovery or energy production."Pollution prevention goes hand-in-
handwith waste minimization. If the waste is eliminated at the front of the line, it will not have to be treated nt the end of the line. The
direct benefiu to the industry are often sign cant -both in terms of increasedprofit and in public relations.
This program can affect all areas of process and waste control with which your industry deals. Elimination or reduction of a
wastewater pollutant can also result in a reduction ofan nirpollutanr or a reduction in the amount of hazardous materials thalyou
have to handle and/or dispose.
This dischargepermif does not specifically dictate waste minimization conditions at this time. We strongly encourage thepermittee to
develop a waste minimization plan. Several industries have already developed plans and found that irtrplementation resulted in
substantial savings. Both the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and EPA have information and resources
available to help you explore this topic.
F Specific Compliance Requirements __
Office Permit
Code Event Citation Due Date
90199 Stormwater Management Part LE.2.f Next Report is due
Plan Annual Reports February 15,1003
A.
