MONTTORING REQUIREMENTS
Frequency and Sample Tvce (Continued)
Self-monitoring sampling by the pemtittee for compliance with the monitoring requirements specified above shall be performed at
the following locations: Outfalls 004, 007, 009, 011, 012, 013, 014, 015, 016, 017, 018, 019, 020, and 021, the dischazges from
swface runoff, before entering either the Wi]]iams Fork and/or the Yampa Rivers. Outfalls 003, 022, and 024 are the dischazges
from swface runoff, mine spoil springs water, and seepage from the mine dewatering system, before entering either the Williams
Fork and/or the Yampa Rivers. Outfall 024 is discharge from domestic wastewater, swface nmoff,-mine spoil springs water, and
seepage from the mine dewatering system, before entering either the WtTliams Fork River. ,
If the permittee, using the approved analytical methods, monitors any parameter more frequently than required by this permit, then
- the results of such monitoring shall be included in the calculafion and reporting of the values required in the Discharge Monitoring
ReportForm (DIvIRs), or other forms as required by the Division. Such increased frequency shall also be indicated:
e) Oi] and Grease Monitorin¢

For every outfall with oil and grease monitoring, in the event an oil sheen or floating oil is observed, a grab. sample shall be
collected, analyzed, and reported on the appropriate DMR, In addition, corrective action shall be taken immediately to
mitigate the_discharge of oil and grease. A description of the corrective action taken should be included with the DMR.
2. Sa]inityParameters
c>
Analysis for salinity shall be required in al] industrial permits that dischazge in the Colorado River Basin. In order to obtain an
indication of the quantity of Salinity being discharged from the site, which is measured as -total dissolved solids ('I'DS), or by
electrical conductivity (where satisfactory correlation with TDS has been established), the permittee shall monitor the wastewater
effluent at the following frequencies:
Outfall Frequency Samnle Tytx
003-004, 007, 009, and 011-024 Quarterly Grab
Self-monitoring sarttlrles taken incompliance with the monitoring requires specified above shall be taken at.those:locations listed in
PartlB.l. - -
C. DEFINITIONS OF TERMS
1. "Composite" sample is a minimum of four grab samples collected at equally spaced two hour intervals and proportioned according
to flow.
2. "Continuous" measwement, is a measwement obtained from an automatic recording device which continually measwes provides
measwements.
3. "Chronic lethality" occws when a statistically significant difference, ai the 95% confidence level, ocews in the chronic test between
the mortality of the test species in 100% effluent (the chronic 7WC = 28,3%) and the control.
4. "Daily Maximum ]imitation" means the limitation for this parameter shall be applied as an instantaneous maximum (or, for pH o:
DO, instantaneous minimum) valve. The instantaneous value is defined as the analytical result bf any individual sample. DMR',
shall include the maximum (and/or minimum) of all instantaneous values within the calendar month. Any instantaneous value
beyond the noted daily maximum limitation for the indicated parameter shall be considered a violation of this permit
5. "Fecal coliform bacteria" thirty (30) day and seven (7) day averages shall be deterrnined as explained in 11. and 12. below
respectively, except that the geometric mean shall be used instead of the arithmetic mean. -
The geometric mean may be calculated using two different methods. For the methods shown, a, b, c, d, etc. aze individual sarrtpl
results, and n is the total number of samples.
ub]
Method 1: Geometric Mean = {a'b•c'd•...) "*" -means multiply
Method 2: Geometric Mean = antilog ([log(a)+log(b)+log(c)+log(d)+...]/n )
Graphical meilrods, even though they may also employ the use of logarithms, may introduce significant error and may not be used
