1981 <br />ANNUAL REPORT <br />77-213 <br />CASTLE SAND PIT <br />ANNIVERSARY DATE: MAY 27 <br />INTRODUCTION - Effective April 22, 1981, the anniversary <br />date was changed to May 27. This change was made by the <br />Mined Land Reclamation Board via a technical revision at the <br />request of Castle Concrete Company. Therefore, this annual <br />report is for a short year covering the period from September <br />27, 1980, through May 27, 1981. The format for this report <br />follows rule 2.41. <br />Rule 2.41 (1): The mining and reclamation permit issued <br />September 27, 1978, was for not more than 32 acres of affected <br />land as indicated in the permit application file. As of the <br />end of the 1979-1980 permit year the actual affected Iand <br />expanded to about 15 acres + 0.5 acres. During this short <br />year the pit expanded approximately one (1) acre. <br />The expansion of the pit was in a west to southwesterly <br />direction. Currently, the western boundary of the pit is in <br />the eastern portions of Tract C, just about where it should <br />be as indicted in the plan and timetable. The rate of <br />expansion is slightly greater than anticipated in the 1980 <br />annual report. In the last annual report it was estimated <br />the operation was 4 to 6 months behind schedule. The slight <br />acceleration in the last few months has brought this more in <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />
