Site <br />characteristics include: 6% slope on reclaimed, fenced, aspen reseazch plot; sideslope <br />position; northeast aspect; aspen, weeds, some cattails in an adjacent wet azea; thick <br />reapplied topsoil; well drained; moderate permeability; none to slight erosion at sample <br />site; sampled July 25, 2006; soil samples for lab include 0-7" (reapplied topsoil), 7-16" <br />(reapplied topsoil), 16-32" (reapplied topsoil), 32-48" (reapplied topsoil), and 48-72 <br />inches (weathered overburden spoil). <br />Al horizon - 0 to 7 inches; brown (IOYR 5/3) loam with 10% shale and sandstone <br />fragments, dark brown (IOYR 4/3) moist; strong medium platy structure parting to <br />moderate medium granular structure; hard dry consistence, friable moist consistence, <br />slightly sticky and slightly plastic wet consistence; common fine and very fine, and few <br />to common medium and coazse roots; noneffervescent, neutral (pH 6.6, from lab data); <br />gradual wavy boundary. <br />9 <br />
