•
It is important to note that all of the previous comments regarding
where operations will occur during the next year may be changed in the
near future. Immediately east of Phase IVe a housing and light industry
development is in the planning and local government approval stages.
Negotiations are underway to determine how this sand pit operation and
that development can be most compatible. Although no definite
compromises have been developed, it is conceivable that the Phase IVe
area would be operated next and that it would be operated quite
vigorously in order to complete as much as possible of that phase prior
to the completion of the adjacent development. In the event this change
in mining order is needed, a technical revision will be submitted,
which, after approval, would permit mining in this area now rather than
many years in the future.
MAPS:
The enclosed annual report maps are derived from the same annual
report maps which were used last year. As was the case last year, the
maps are primarily intended to show the relationships of the operation
to the various phases and not necessarily to the topographic
configurations. The color coding is understandable from the maps alone,
but some additional comments might be helpful.
GREEN - All areas colored in green include lands which were not
directly affected by the mining operation DURING THIS REPORT YEAR. This
would include land which has never been disturbed by mining AND/OR lands
which have been previously affected and are in a disturbed condition,
but were not actually affected during the past year,
RED - The red areas include generally all those lands which have
been directly utilized in the extraction and processing.
YELLOW - Yellow delineates land which had a wide variety of uses
ranging from roads to minor extraction areas.
ORANGE - This is land which has been previously disturbed, may be
in a preliminary reclamation stage, and/or may have various minor uses
at present.
BLUE - Parcels marked in blue indicate lands that are clearly in
some stage of reclamation, In some cases it could be rough grading or
final grading while in other cases it could be land which is currently
under revegetation.
FILE 73-7 ANNUAL REPORT - 1986/1987 PAGE 6 OF 6
