<br />1 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />San Luis Project -Phase 11 Raise 1 Expansion Construction Status Report <br />4.5.4 Downstream Solution Collection Ditches <br />Where the 4(}mil, VLDPE liner is exposed in the solution collection ditches on the downstream <br />side of both abutments of the raise, a piece of 60-mil. HDPE liner has been welded to the <br />VLDPE liner. The HDPE liner is secured in the anchor trench along with the VLDPE liner and <br />beneath the tce of the fill. The HDPE liner was added to provide additional protection to the <br />VLDPE liner in this area. <br />4.6 Reporting <br />To document the procedures to be adopted during the remainder of conswction and reflect a <br />higher degree of interface with the Division during construction, a revised Section 7 of the <br />Earthwork Specification is attached as Appendix C. <br />I 5.0 CONSTRUCTION QUALITY ASSURANCE AND QUALITY CONTROL (QA/QC) <br />' S.1 General <br />' SRK, the Engineer, has been retained by the Owner to provide third party QA/QC testing and <br />full-time on-site monitoring of the contractor's activities, as required in the original permit and <br />permit amendment. Additional testing to verify that design objectives are met with the <br />construction materials and procedures utilized have been undertaken by the Hngineer. These <br />tests include spot permeability testing of the raise fill and liner cover/drainage blanket as well <br />' as specification conformance testing of the liner cover/drainage blanket layer as described in <br />Section 3.4.2. <br />In addition, the Owner has implemented QA/QC monitoring procedures to further verify that <br />the design objectives are being met. The QA/QC adopted by the Owner includes visual <br />inspection and acceptance rejection of all earthwork and liner materials, third party <br />geomembrane liner conformance testing (as described in Section 3.5.3) and monitoring all <br />contractor safety procedures. These QA/QC procedures were outlined in the Technical <br />Specifications presented in the Phase II, Raise 1 Design Report. <br />Details of the QA/QC monitoring and testing results are described in the following sections. <br />t October, 1993 Ip SRIC Ptoject No. 14725 <br /> <br />
