C-058-83
Dear Mr. Squire:
In accordance with Stipulation No. 1 and 2 of subject permit, the
Water Monitoring Report for the quarter ending April 15, 1986 is sub-
mitted herewith.
Mining has progressed as shown on the attached mine map. Minor
seepage is still present in mine entries adjacent to the abandoned Last
Chance workings. It appears that the amount of seepage has not substan-
tially increased with advance of the mine. Recent work in the intake
Entry of the 1st Right Section encountered a dip in the coal which is
producing the most seepage encountered to date. The areas is down dip
from the Last Chance working. The seepage probably is a function of water
levels in the old workings. Conclusions on the source and direction of
seepage may be substantiated when the Main and Return entries are driven
into the area and rooms are developed to the Southeast. Some drying of
seepage areas has occurred in the Main entries. Pumping rates from the
mine have not significantly increased during the quarter. Tests on a
water sample taken from the pool of water created by the dip in coal in the
1st Right indicated the following values: Temperature 52°F; Conductivity
1500 Micro Ohmms/cm; Iron 1.0 mg/1. Total flow into the mine is estimated
to be less than 1 GPM.
Water from the mine is discharged into the Bench Sedimentation Pond.
As of this date, no water has been discharged into Lewis Gulch.
Water level measurements and associated data for the monitoring wells
for the reporting period are as follows:
TPW-1
Date: 2-28-86 3-25-86 5-13-86
Conductivity: 680 680 780
PH 9.0 8.0 8.0
Level 141.5' 142.3' 141.8'
Temp 52°F. 53°F. 53°F.
CALDIROLA
Date: 2-28-86 3-25-86 5-13-86
Conductivity 520 530 510
PH 7.8 7.2 7.2
Level 75.5' 74.' 75.2'
Temp. 47°F. 49°F. 52°F.
