N <br />GROUND WATER <br />Table G-95 shows the ground water monitoring results for this water year compared to the <br />averages of previous monitoring results for the same months. The alluvial piezometers (P- <br />~1 8 P-2) showed water levels consistent with prior years averages. <br />~'he Division's letter dated March 3, 1994 requested that the wells completed in the E-~ <br />Seam be monitored to determine at what level the workings have been flooded. The 1987 <br />r~,,~~ A ual h drolo is report predicted the water in the mine workings would reach the water <br />~ evel in E-1, 635 1993. The water level in E-1 during May and September 1997 was <br />S,ip ~ 6 .2 respectively. It is unlikely this monitoring well reflects the water level <br />~ ~t,°` in the mine. According to the Hydrology and Alluvial Valley Floor Report, prepared by <br />` Kaman Tempo, well E-1 was developed to determine the water level and aquifer <br />characteristics of the E Seam. The elevation of the surface where the mine portals were <br />developed is approximately 6400. ~, ~!~ c4 r, P"'"~` ~ ~~- F,:,. ws r C~3fa' <br />The PHC predicts that a spoil aquifer with a peak discharge of 30 gpm will develop in the <br />underground waste disposal area and backfilled areas of the reclaimed topography. There <br />have never been any springs or seeps observed at the waste disposal area or reclaimed <br />mine site. There is no indication a spoil aquifer has developed in the reclaimed waste <br />disposal area or reclaimed mine site. <br />MINE WATER <br />The underground workings were not accessible for mine inflow monitoring in 1997 nor will <br />they be accessible in the future. The water level in the mine is projected to stabilize below <br />the portal according to the Kaman Tempo Report, Volume 8 of 8 of the permit application. <br />For a projection of the mine filling schedule, please refer to the 1987 Annual Hydrologic <br />Report. <br />CONSUMPTIVE USE <br />None. <br />METHODS <br />The following narrative explains the methods used to perform the current monitoring <br />requirements: <br />A Cole Parmer pocket-size tester.
