Dept. of Natural Resouir,2=
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203 c l
Re: An Report ` Renoers©n Mining Permit N1
Dear Dr. Ward:
Mining and reclamation at the Henderson mine and mill
proceeded almost exactly as depicted in the application ac-
cepted one year ago. Our rate of production is presently
about 26, 000 tons per day which is the projected level from
a year ago. Our total work force is up to 1, 789 people.
Continued tailing deposition now affects about 275 acres.
That figure and the other disturbances inside the tailing
basin (bypass canal, roads, pipelines and topsoil removal)
keep us well within the 300 and 425 acres of anticipated
affected land designated for the tailing in the timetable
for 1977 and 1979 respectively.
Reclamation on all land which will not be reaffe!cted
proceeded in accord with the timetable (Section 5) and the
Reclamation Plan (Section 9) . Also in accord with the plan,
we do not desire to claim any of the acreage as totally
reclaimed for surety release as yet. When presented to the
Board for action in 1977, the surety amount of $1. 88
million was to remain constant for two years. We feel this
concept is still valid because the ongoing reclamation is
approximately offsetting the need for additional surety to
cover the increasing disturbance due to tailing deposition.
Species planted during 1978 were those committed to
in the approved plan (Section 9) plus some. A Complete
list is enclosed. Planting times and locations described
in the reclamation plan were adhered to. The high-altitude
seed mixture was broadcast at approximately 50 rather than
