'lhe 1993 Annual Hydrology Report narrative following is divided into fifteen
parts. Discussion is presented in aoco~ince with each monitoring category
identified in Table 1. Summary of Hydrologic Monitoring Stations -Required
Monitorirw for CDVCC 1993 Annual Hvdroloav Report. Table 1 immediately follows
the narrative in this report and precedes the 1993 data summaries provids3 for
each station. Zhe individual station data simmiaries are also ordered in
accordance with Table 1. Maps depicting the locations of all hydrologic
monitoring stations are appended to this report. Water quality monitoring
includes field parameters (Table 2), water quality parameters (Table 3) and NPDFS
parameters ('T`able 4). Ponds were sampled for water quality only when dischazge
or outflow was oaarrring. Ponds in the COVCC permit area typically are spring-
fed or seep-fad and e~ibit diffuse nonconcentrated areas of inflc~a. Tn many
instances, the pond outlets present the only point of concentrated flow at which
• flow measurements and field parameters can be obtained. Stagnant water in ponds
was not sailed since water quality results would show the effects of evaporation
and stock use and could not be used to evaluate potential mine impacts. The 1993
samples and most of the previous water quality samples were analyzed by ACZ
Laboratories, Inc. Steamboat Springs, Colorado, a USF3?A certified laboratory.
This report includes data collected specifically to meet requirements of the
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology (C~IG), as well as data collected to
meet requirements of the Colorado Wastewater Discharge Permit System (NPDES
permit) . A list of all monitoring stations within the angle~f~lraw of the mines
is presented as Table 5. Seven new stations were added to Table 5 for the 1993
report. Springs number 30, aril 10-10, and ponds 10-1, 10-2, 10-3, 10-4, and 10-
11 are now shown as being undermined in Table 5. All seven of these sites are
erxxmq~assed by the angle-of-draw as projected from Panel Y which was advance
• mined during 1993.
3
