Mr. Dan Mathews
Division ojMinemisAnd Geology
Page 2
• Response: The 1.0-acre parcel in question had the topsoil removed, slide area remediated, topsoil replaced, and
seeded in 2004. In order to portray this on the map three (3) colors or highlights would need to overlie each
other on this insignificant 1.0-acre parcel. The major activity in this area for 2004 was the seeding.
To alleviate your confusion a separate map for each activity has been developed and included in this subtnittaL
3. The reporting form indicates that 2G.3 acres were backfzlled adgraded during the year. However, the 2004 Reclamation
Map appears to indicate that 22.2 acres were graded topsoiled and needed, and an addeYiona120.1 acrergraded but not
topsoi/ed orreeded (a total of 42.3 acres backfzlled andgmded). Please address this apparent discrepancy, and
amend the map and/or repomng form as appropriate, to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Response: The reporting form and map acres have been reviewed, recalculated and discrepancies corrected to
ensure consistency.
4. The reporting form indicates that 209.8 acres wen zoproikd durin8 theyear. However, the 2004 Reclamation Map appears to
indicate that 280.1 acres wen topsoiled and reeled and another 38.9 acrrr topsailed but not needed (a total of 319 acnn
topnoiled Please address this apparent discrepancy, and amend the map and/orreportingfotm as
appropriate, to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Response: The reporting form and map acres have been reviewed, recalculated and disaepandes corrected to
ensure consistency.
5. The reporting form indicates that total of 234.6 aver were seeded during theyear, whereas the 2004 Reclamation Map tuts
222.5 acres as seeded in 2004. A portion of all of the "miming"acreage may be in thegnen shaded seeded and `tree plot"
area along the final bighwallgraded slope at the north end of the `D"Pit ann. No reeled acreage war listed for this panel on
the map. A portion of the parcel war originally seeded in 2003, but was needed agam in 2004. Please address the
apparent acreage, and amend the map and/or reporting form as appmpdate, to ensure accuracy
and consistency. Note that acrxr initially seeded in agivenyear and reported in theARR form for tbatyear, Sben seeded
agate to one or mare subsequentyearr, should not be included under `calendaryear acres reeled "for the subsequentyear(s).
The acres needed should only be reported once, for the purpose of cumulative land rtatzu tracking. However, the nature, location
and acreage of any remedial reseeding orplanting conducted during theyear rbould be described in the report narrative, and the
location of such remedial rbould be delineated an the reclamation map. Please amend the report narrative and the
reclamation map as appropriate to describe and delineate any such remedial seeding arplanting
performed in 2004.
Response: The reporting form and map acres have been reviewed, recalculated and discrepancies corrected to
ensure consistency.
6. On the Reclamation Map Photo, then it a Topsoil Removed/ Ungraded land status category, indicated by a blue barpattern.
Obviously, the entire length of the Wadge Pity and armciated spoil in the South Extension area ftt this category, as well ar the
active pit and spoil areas arraciated with the Wolf Creek mining black. However, the pattern it applied to only a portion of the
active Walf Creek pit and poiG ana on the map. Please amend the map as appropriate.
Response: The portion `matched" indicates the area reIIecting 2004 activity. To alleviate further confusion a
separate map for each activity has been developed and included in this submittal.
7. 2.04.13(1)(e) requires documentation and maps addressing specter, location and number of acres of vegetation planted durin8
theyear. We believe a number of clarzfzcationr are warranted with regard to the reeding/planting documentation.
•
