'~'
~ SLOPE NORTH OF SHOP: At the beginning of the 1987 growing season the
grass component showed exceptional strength and good cover. This is
just the second growing season, but the indications are that the cover
on this area will be as adequate as it is on other areas. Derived
from the replacement of the original soil is an added benefit of some
wildflowers such as wallflower (Erysimum asperum), and a mustard
(Lesquerella sp.). The wallflower's prominent yellow flowers add some
color to the hillside, although they are currently quite scattered.
In time, they should become more prominent.
SLOPE SOUTH OF SHOP: This area was seeded in 1987 and therefore no
assessment can be provided. However, as of May 15, about 2 weeks
after seeding, some of the grass and clover could be found growing on
the slope. Excellent moisture and a warm May has certainly aided in
the germination and growth of the seeded vegetation.
WASTE PILE SLOPE: This area was seeded in 1987 and therefore no
assessment can be provided. However, as of May 15, about 2 weeks
after seeding, excellent germination could be detected on the limited
area examined. Generally, this slope faces east and north and as a
result it is expected that moisture conditions are excellent. So far,
the seeding appears to be highly successful.
SLOPE WEST OF THE SLOPE NORTH OF THE SHOP: This area was seeded on
May 15, 1987 and therefore there has not been sufficient time to
produce any significant germination.
RULE 2.41 7 ESTIMATES OF THE LOCATION AND NUMBER OF ACRES TO BE
AFFECTED IN THE COMING YEAR.
During the coming year, it is not expected that the mining, road,
and processing and distribution arrangement will change significantly.
It is expected that the mining area will proceed downslope in Tract AB
to some extent, but other than that the operation will not change from
its current condition.
MAP: A map is provided which shows the features discussed in this
report.
Page 5 of 5 Permit 77-211 Pikeview Quarry 1987 Annual Report
