The seed mixture applied to the waste pile soil covering was as follows: SPECIES INTERMEDIATE WHEATGRASS PUBESCENT WHEATGRASS RUSSIAN WILDRYE SLENDER WHEATGRASS RANGER ALFALFA YELLOW SWEETCLOVER RATE (lbs./acre - PLS broadcast) 7.0 7.0 5.0 3.0 1.0 5.0 28.0 Excellent success has been obtained in the past with mixtures similar to this one, although the amount of clover was increased considerably due to the need to add stability to the slope through the use of heavy growths of very deeply rooted plants. This area was seeded on April 22 and 23, 1987. The mixture applied to the slope south of the shop was as follows. This area was seeded on April 22, 1987. This was seeded on May 15, 1987. This late date of seeding was caused by weather problems which prevented the completion to topsoiling. Because some soil was removed from the topsoil stockpile, those portions of the pile which were disturbed were regraded and seeded with the topsoil mixture blended with the same mixture used on other areas. It is not known exactly what rate of each species was planted due to the blending with older seed which had been left over from previous projects, but because the vegetation cover on the topsoil is mainly to temporarily protect the site from erosion, the exact species mixture is not very important.
