No.: Primary Refuse Disposal Area
Inspection Period: Fouth Quarter 2002
Inspection Date: 12/31/02
General Description or Reference to Site Plan:
Raton Creek Mine is in final reclamation. All required structures have been removed,
the area brought to final grade, mulched and seeded. Areas of lesser vegetation
density were inter-seeded in 2000.
Activity During Inspection (Including General Observations):
Area was inactive thoughout the quarter.
A light covering of snow blanketed the area at the time of inspection. No significant change
since the last inspection was noted. Minor tilling had not increased noticeably. Vegetation
remained sparse due to an extremely dry spring and summer. Diversion ditches exhibited
minimal silt accumulations.
Drainage: (Discussion of springs. seeps, overland and channel flow, underdrain construction and/
or discharge, integrity of 100-year 24-hour drainage structures, and evidence of positive drainage).
No springs or seeps were observed on the refuse side slopes. Positive drainage is established on
all areas. Vegetation has been established on reclaimed areas with some minor tilling on more
sparsely vegetated areas. Drainage and diversion structures were intact with some sediment
accumulation noted on the west facing diversion ditch above and to the south of the water tank.
Underdrain construction has been completed.
Observation of Fill Construction: (Description of material, compaction, lift thicknesses, slopes,
and construction methods).
Structure has been completed to final grade.
