RE: Quarterly Diacharge Monitoring Report for Permit CO-0000221
Dear Sir or Madam:
Pursuant to the quarterly reporting requirements contained in
Colorado Discharge Permit CO-0000221 for the Seneca Mine complex,
enclosed find the second.,quarter 1995 discharge monitoring reports
for Sites 002, 003, 004, 005, 006, 008, and 009. Site 010 has not
yet been constructed.
An acute WET test performed on a sample from Site 005 collected on
May 16 failed (see attached May 23 letter). Accelerated testing
was performed on samples collected May 22, June 1, and June 6. The
May 22 test failed, however, the two tests in June both passed;
therefore, the episode was closed (see attached June 28 letter).
• The WET Test Report forms for all tests are attached to the 005
DMR.
A chronic WET test was started on June 13 for a sample from Site
008. Per Kathleen Sullivan of the CDOH/WQCD on June 27, the fathead
minnow portion of the test was invalid due to poor performance in
the receiving stream control and inconsistent data in the 25
percent dilution. A second test was started on July 6. That test
passed. Both WET Test Report forms for this incident are attached
with the 008 DMR,
