The damp was measured and slope
grades were determined for final reclamation. High Country Excavating
from Nederland, Colorado was employed to assist with the final
program. A John Deere backhoe and John Deere Excavator along with a
tandum damp track were used by High Country. I used Calais's A 66 3
yard Ford loader. A total of 30 damp tracks loads of mulch and top soil
weighing approximately 15 tons each were hauled to the Cross Mine
project. Following completion of the historic mine dump slope work, the
soil and mulch were spread with the use of the hydraulic excavator and
Ford 3 yard loader. Final leveling and spreading was accomplished by
hand raking and hand shoveling. The final clean up of the Coon Track
Creek was accomplished with a backhoe and by hand. The base of the
dump was covered with top soil and left so access could be made in the
fntare for ongoing maintenance work and for the planned installation of
the upper Coon Track Creek flow weir. The installation of the permanent
weir is scheduled for Jaly of 2004, Large rocks were placed along the
base of the Cross Mine dump. Final waste rock for the slope project was
neatly placed behind the Cross Mine portal and snow shed area. This
