Mitigation Site Description
All wetland areas impacted will be mitigated on site and in two phases. Phase One is located
just south of ] 04~' Avenue and just east of the South Platte River. This phase of mitigation will
be completed during the first year of the project and will include 6.86 acres of wetland creation
(Drawing 3). In order to provide wetland hydrology, the topsoil of the area will be removed and
the area will be excavated just below the water table. Once the proper depth is reached, the
topsoil will be replaced to bring the soil surface to the water table and the area will be planted
and monitored.
Phase Two of the mitigation plan is located just north of 100th Avenue and east of the South
Platte River and will be a remnant of the excavation of Area Two (Drawing 3). The site will
begin as an open water azea 30 feet deep and encompassing approximately 19.85 acres. Over
five yeazs, CAMAS Colorado Inc. will systematically fill the azea from the south with fine
particulate from the gravel washing operation. During the growing season of yeaz five, fill will
have begun to reach the water table surface in areas (3-5 feet below the original soil surface) and
planting will begin.
Sections 16, 17 and 9, Township 2 South, Range 67 West, Latitude 39° 53' I S", Longitude 104° 53' S0", /?
UTM s~g»omE .,14eoomN, Permanent Disturbance = 24.1 acres
