There are two ways to do this, one is to fill the lake in with
inert materials so no lake will remain. The other is to dewater
the excavated area and line the mined area with an impervious
material so it can be used as a water storage lake.
The following table shows the areas contained on the site
once mining is complete.

1. STATEMENT OF COMPATIBILITY WITH THE SURROUNDING AREA.
The existing operation has been compatible with the
surrounding area since mining started in the early 1960•s. The
changes we propose will have little effect on surrounding uses or
the existing uses. If anything it will speed removal of the
remaining reserves and shorten the time till reclamation is
complete. This facility will be located on approximately 118.34
acre ± with an existing approved Conditional Use Permit issued
for sand and gravel extraction. Since the reclamation plan will
not change, it is compatible with surrounding uses shown in the
following table.

2. HARMONY WITH THE CHARACTER OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD.
Sand and gravel is extracted from several properties zoned
A-3 on the west side of Brighton Road from I-76 to the north
county line. Some land is used for agriculture, and small pieces
of property adjacent to the highway on the west are zoned A-3.
