ALBERT FRET AND SONS, INC.
WORTHING SUBDIVISION
CASE # 5S76ZP
bond. This way, if excavation below the water level ends prema-
turely, no additional work will be needed. The above water area
would then be resoiled and revegetated to complete reclamation of
the site.
Once the lining is completed, the lake area will be filled
with water. While we do not have a source of water to fill it at
this time we are pursuing a source of water to fill the lake and
use the facility for our own needs. Once the liner is complete
the area will have to be inspected by the governing agencies
(Division of water Resources and design engineers) before it
could be filled.
WATER
Table 2 on page 13 is a list of the wells, and their physi-
cal data gleaned from the well records at the State Engineers
office. The Well Location Map on page 14 shows their approximate
location. The locations shown on the map are approximate since
the State Engineers records are vague on the exact location of
some of the wells. The number in the table corresponds with the
number beside each well on the map.
The following information is our analysis of why it is
possible to dewater the lake without affecting wells around the
site. MKK contacted the owner of three surface wells within 600
feet of the site that are not controlled by Albert Frei and Sons,
Inc. They are wells located along the northeast perimeter of the
mine and are listed as well #'s 1, 3 and 4. The State Engineers
records show them as being owned by Hill (#1) and Heldt (#3 6
#4), but the actual owner is the E-470 Highway Authority. E-470
has indicated the wells we abandoned in mid-November and will be
plugged as the road is built. Table 1 lists the general uses of
the wells in the draw down area.
Technical analysis:
There are no changes to the overall water data in the
original permit. It contains a detailed water analysis prepared
by Leonard Rice Consulting Water Engineers. A well permit and
Temporary Substitute Supply plan was submitted to the Division of
Water Resources (DWR) in 1991 for the lake. We are still working
to complete this permit.
Review of available documents in our files and at the State
Engineers office suggests a possibility that as the lake is
pumped down, the water table draw down could extend out 600 feet
from the lake area on the north, east and south. The analysis we
have done suggests the ground water flow in this area is from the
southeast as it approaches the river and then runs parallel to
the river. This is consistent with what has been presented in
the past for the South Platte River basin in the Denver area.
There are 11 wells within 600 feet of the site, of these 11,
4 wells are within 200 feet of this site. Two are deep domestic
or household wells that will not be affected by dewatering, the
third is a gravel pit lake west of the river and the fourth is an
11
