Permit No. M-84-099,
Annual Report for 1992
FEDERAL TAX ID#
Our files indicate that the anniversary date for this permit is
September 29°h. Operations continued as approved in the permit and is
in compliance with the Technical Revision of September, 1991. This
pit HAS NOT been granted a Temporary Cessation and it HAS operated
more than 180 days this year. The Financial Warranty for this opera-
tion is $73,000, the permitted area is 216.81 ac. ± and the pit is
divided into 2 Reclamation Phases. A sign that conforms with rule 6.7
Signs and Markers is in place at the entrance to the pit. Please refer
to the Annual Report map for the location of areas discussed in this
report.
Because of the flooding that took place on the St. Vrain River
this spring this report is longer than normal. The river basically
changed its course to the west of our location and now crosses the
west property line near the center of the west line. Prior to this
change an emergency dike was placed along the west side of the north
lake to keep the river out of the lake (brown) . As it entered the
property in the new location it cut thru the north lake dike, exiting
near the pipeline on the east side of the site. It also breached the
south lake dike near the County Road. The entrance points and exit
point are colored bright green on the map. In the period before it
broke thru it caused major damage to the old channel by eroding banks
and cutting into the 100 foot setbacks that were established in
previous years (orange) .
Once the flood subsided we rerouted the river back into its
historic channel where possible, and reconstructed the dike in the
areas where they were breached. As a result of the flooding the
conveyer was taken out where it crossed the river, the south lake was
flooded and mining ended south of the river in mid-June. The instal-
lation of the emergency dike eliminated approximately 3.98 acres ± of
revegetation that will have to be restored. We
will not attempt to reestablish the 100 foot
Tectonic Construction Co. setbacks where they were thinned because of the
12501 Weld County Road 13 expense involved. One plus to all this is the
Longmont, Colorado 80501 fact that approximately 9.59 acres ± of the north
(303)444-7444/ 1-303-535-4350 PP Y
An Equal Opportunity Employer
