Mr. David Beverlin - 3 - February 26, 1988
D. The Division believes that water analyses from wells are
contaminated by sediment which have no relationship to water
quality in the aquifer of interest. Thus, all ground water samples
should be filtered with a 45 um filter immediately following sample
acquisition and the analysis of dissolved parameters should be
requested from the lab. With this change, it will no longer be
necessary to monitor for total iron.
E. The Colorado Department of Health now requires that total
recoverable forms of metal be analyzed for surface waters. This
digestion is less intense than that for total analyses and many
operators find that their waters consequently do meet the
standards. As iron and manganese levels are high at the surface
water sites and there are standards for both total recoverable and
dissolved forms of these metals, both forms of iron and manganese
should be analyzed.
F. Aluminum, as part of the surface water complete list, should be
analyzed in the dissolved form since the standard is in this form.
The Division only received one copy of the AHR. Please fon+ard us another
copy for the public records.
The Division would like to again commend P 8 M for an excellent report.
