STATE OF COLORADO
Roy Romer, Governor
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
DAVID C. SHELTON, Director
DATE: March 30, 1987
T0: Brent Anderson
FROM: Jim Pendleton
RE: Bear Mines Subs' ence M toring Report - 1986
(Permit No. C- -
Pursuant to your request, I have reviewed the above referenced subsidence
monitoring report, prepared for Bear Coal Company by Ute Engineering and
Survey Company, and submitted to the Division on March 16, 1987. The survey
results from April, 1985 thru November, 1986 are included within the report.
In general, no subsidence appears to have occurred at any of the monitored
locations. Some observed movements appear to have occurred and due to
land sliding at Monuments U-21 and U-11. Apparently, the August, 1985 survey
results were consistently flawed with a consistent inaccuracy of approximately
.75 feet at all monuments.
I agree with Mr. Black's contention that additional survey data collection
will increase precision of the survey results. I recommend acceptance of this
report, as submitted.
sak
cc: Bob Liddle
8363E
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203-2273 Tel.
