These waste rock dumps have been inspected monthly, except when winter
conditions prohibit access, in accordance with the recommended monitoring program. The history of the
rock dumps has been provided in previous annual reports and is not repeated in this discussion. A site
map with piezometer locations is provided as Figure 1.
Water levels in all waste rock dump piezometers showed seasonal fluctuations similar to those observed
in past years, although with slightly reduced amplitudes that are probably attributable to the extremely dry
year experienced. A chart with 2002 data is provided as Figure 2. A chart with piezometers levels since
1996 is provided as Figure 3. Data in these charts are plotted as "water elevation above mean sea level",
rather than "depth below ground surface" as was used previously. No visual sign of movement was
observed at any location.
As you are aware from previous years, prior to October 2001 data was not obtained from piezometer
IC10600 due to the presence of gravel obstructions, which blocked the passage of the piezometer.
Detailed analysis and presentation of the 2002 data is provided in the following pages.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact me in the Albuquerque office at (505) 828-1621 or via
cell phone at (505) 400-2794.
Very T~ruly~Yours~, O
Alan D.
