BLMiUSFS ID :700-322-7261 SEP 28 '94 13 : 24 No .004 P . 10
09/21/94 Talked to waster master Oliver Clinton. He said the local name for the
canyon is Vague (pronounced Veh9-s) Canyon. There is a decree for Vague Canyon
Ditch for 0.3 cfs, which is an ac,ended water volume, different from the original
5/1/21 appropriation of 1.2 ofs. The adjudication date is 12/31/72 the legal
description of the ditch is Souzh east of south west of south west, T.47H.,
R.20N., Section 14. He said there was also mention of Holmes spring and pipe, and
he didn't personally know exactly where it was, or if it pretained to the spring,
little pond, and culvert near the Saint Patrick spur road.
The diversion to Vague ditch is only about 100 yards north of Highway 90, so
neither owner Pat Richard@ nor the ditch riders used to use the road up the
canyon. There is reference to Holeman Home Spring and Pipeline ae well, but
continued record search would be required for more information. Mr. Clinton said
that flood waters from Vague Canyon intermittently cover the State highway with
as much as 2 feet of water. There have been no major foods for 6 to 7 years.
No written record of the flood waters is kept, however State Highway Department
Road Does, Dave Parker has worki,d on the road for about 30 years and would be
able to give a historic account of the flooding.
09/23/94 Mike Moore called to di&cusa St. Patrick Mine reclamation and asked that
we get back with him. He is willing to do a limited amount of additional work
to try to keep storm water from coming down the face of the the waste pile, but
he is not willing to work on the site year after year, and does not assume
responsibility for the Lion Crebk Road.
