13.4.6.3.3 Urinalysis results exceeding 30 ug/1 and/or in-vivo results <br />exceeding 16 nCi shall be reported to the RSO by telephone. <br />Prevention of specimen contamination shall be in accordance with <br />Section C.6 of USNRC Regulatory Guide 8.22. <br />13.4.6.3.4 The licensee shall implement a documented quality control <br />program for urine specimens that includes background samples, <br />blanks, and spikes and also criteria for requiring repeat <br />collection and analysis. <br />13.4.6.3.5 A baseline urine sample shall be obtained from any new worker, <br />who will be subject to urinalysis, prior to start of w~~rk. <br />13.4.6.4 In-vivo Measurements <br />Annual in-vivo measurements are necessary for all work~:rs <br />routinely exposed to airborne uranium ore dust. Basel:ne <br />bioassays should be performed prior to initial assignm~ants for <br />such work. Bioassays shall also be performed if there is any <br />reason to suspect an inhalation exposure to ore dust exceeding <br />520 x 10-10 uCi-hr/ml in a period of one calendar quarter. <br />Baseline in-vivo measurements shall be performed on a1:L new <br />workers who will be subject to in-vivo counting the first time <br />the in-vivo counter is available. The licensee shall i~ke a <br />formal documented evaluation if any in-vivo thorax measurement <br />exceeds 16 nCi. <br />13.4.7 FACILITIES AIR SAMPLING <br />The licensee shall conduct an air sampling program to assess <br />airborne radioactivtty concentrations to which employef:s may be <br />exposed within the licensed facilities as follows: <br />13.4.7.1 Monthly 60-minute air samples, representative of potent:lal <br />employee exposure, shall be collected at process and storage <br />locations, as appropriate, to determine airborne uranium <br />concentrations. <br />13.4.7.2 These samples shall be supplemented by worker breathint; zone <br />samplings at least monthly to determine the representativeness <br />of the station air samples. <br />13.4.7.3 Monthly sampling at selected process areas shall be performed to <br />determine radon daughter concentrations. If monthly v:clues <br />exceed 25 percent of the applicable standards, the frequency of <br />sampling at these locations shall be increased to weekly. <br />-18- <br />
