13.4.6.1 The licensee's personnel and facility monitoring program shall <br />be as referenced in the Procedures Manual required by LC 11.1.8. <br />No reduction in monitoring frequency shall be made without <br />Department approval. <br />13.4.6.2 Personnel monitoring control badges shall be kept in a natural <br />background radiation location. <br />13.4.6.3 Bioassay <br />13.4.5.3.1 The licensee shall comply with the program as in the Procedures <br />Manual, required by LC 11.1.8 and USNRC Regulatory Guide 8.22 <br />(Bioassay at Uranium Mills), and the following regarding <br />bioassay: <br />Urinalysis for uranium shall be performed every two weeks for <br />employees assigned to the ore crushing operations, and <br />maintenance tasks in which radioactive ore dust may be <br />produced. Specimens shall be collected as close as is <br />reasonably possible to the period beginning 48 hours and ending <br />96 hours after the last exposure. The measurement sensitivity <br />shall be 5 ug/1 or less. A special urinalysis shall also be <br />performed if there is any reason to suspect an inhalation <br />exposure to ore dust exceeding 520 x 10-10 uCi-hr/ml in a <br />period of one calendar quarter. The Licensee shall make a <br />formal documented evaluation if bioassay measurements exceed any <br />of the following criteria: <br />(a) The urinary uranium concentration exceeds 30 ug/1 for any <br />two consecutive sampling periods. <br />(b) The urinary uranium concentration for any measurement <br />exceeds 80 ug/1. <br />(c) Action levels based on bioassay measurements shall be in <br />accordance with Tables 1 and 2 of USNRC Regulatory <br />Guide 8.22. In addition, all bioassay results shall be <br />evaluated and acted upon by the RSO and any results above 5 <br />ug/1 will be referred to the Corporate Medical Advisor. <br />13.4.6.3.2 Urinalysis results exceeding 15 ug/1 shall be reported to the <br />RSO within 20 days of specimen collection. <br />-17- <br />
