CASTLE CONCRETE COFTPANY'S
MINED LAND RECLAMATION
1987-88 ANNUAL REPORT FOR: PIKEVIEW QUARRY
PERMIT NUMBER: M-77-211
DATE OF INSPECTION FOR DATA IN REPORT: MAY 1988.
STTMMARY
About 16 acres of land was affected with mining
itself and an additional about 50 acres for
other activities. Tract AC was largely
unaffected, while most of the mining occurred in
Tract AB. The drainage channel was seeded as
well as spot seeding on other areas. A small
fill area near the office was also seeded.
About 23 acres is now under reclamation. A flat
to depressed aggregate market has seriously
reduced the production rate at the quarry and
expansion of mining has slowed considerably.
RECEIVE®
MAY 2 61988
MINED LAND
RECLAMATION DIVISION
RULE 2.41 1 LOCATION AND NUMBER OF ACRES AFFECTED DURING THAT YEAR.
The enclosed annual report map shows the various areas affected land
during the last year as well as the areas which were placed or are
currently under reclamation. Mining occurred in a 16 acre area mostly
contained in Tract AB. With the exception of the mining access road and
topsail stockpile, no land was affected in Tract AC. The land between the
stockpiles near the rip rap plant and the mining access road was generally
unaffected. Furthermore, the west end of Tract AA was unaffected.
Essentially all other land shown on the permit map was affected in one way
or another.
This represents few changes from last year. This lack of change was
due mostly to the depressed aggregate market. In fact, the quarry was
closed for everything except sales from existing stockpiles for a period of
nearly three months during the winter. This is one of the few times the
market was so slow it required a winter shut down of the operation.
RULE 2.41 2 LOCATIONS AND NUMBER OF ACRES RECLAIMED FOR THAT YEAR.
Reclamation proceeded on a limited scale. With the lack of new
affected land and with the few changes which occurred in the existing
operation, there was little additional land available for reclamation. It
did allow an opportunity to catch up on some needed stabilization and
reclamation activities which, due to limited time the previous year, could
not be implemented.
Page 1 of 4 1988 PIKEVIEW QUARRY ANNUAL REPORT
