Approximately three to four inches
of topsoil will be removed and stockpiled for future reclamation use. We
will remove topsoil as we proceed into the areas that are to be mined.
The proposed area consists of high flat top bluffs, which after mining
will be similar in appearance; but will be lowered by twenty to forty
feet. During reclamation, all efforts will be made to keep the contour
of the area looking as natural as possible.
After the area is mined, ther will be two reclamation methods:
1) the pit areas created by fining will be used for future tire cells
for Midway's tire reclama ion and disposal operation in accordance
with the operational plan contained in the Certificate of Designation
for Midway Landfill, Inc. d/b/a Midway Tire Disposal/Recycling.
2) the area not condusive to the above use and the area outside of the
permitted tire disposal area will be reclaimed to grassland, following
those guidelines established by the Soil Conservation Service.
It has been agreed that the seed mixture suggested by the Soil Conservation
Service be alternated as recommended by the Mined Land Reclamation staff to
include Western Wheatgrass and Russian Wildrye.
The areas exhausted of mineral extraction and no longer used for stock-
piling will be reclaimed in a progressive method. Mining and reclamation
will occur at the pace dictated by the economic and market conditions of
the area.
