2.2 Dust Control
Annual dust control activities continue as in past yeazs. An overhead watering system
was developed and successfully employed on the Robinson Reservoir beach azeas. In
addition, a''/a mile long experimental wind snow fence was installed along the east end of
3-Dam. Initial evaluations as to the effectiveness of this fence will be made in 2006.
2.3 2005 DMG Inspection
Messrs. Allen Sorenson and Carl Mount inspected Climax in September 2005. The
primary thrust of this inspection was tailing dam stability. During the inspection, two
issues arose. The first issue was an azea of minor erosion on 1-Dam. This azea was
repaired later that day. The second azea of concern was along the west groin of 3-Dam
where the traverse road water diversion was somewhat blocked. Before this small azea
could be repaired, winter conditions blocked access. This azea will be repaired in 2006.
2.4 Topsoil
As part of the Visual Enhancement Reclamation project discussed in Section 1.3,
approximately 11,000 cubic yazds of topsoil material was located and salvaged from the
toe of F-Dump (between E-Dump and F-Dump). Some of this material was moved to the
top of F-Dump for use on that facility in 2006. Both stockpiles were seeded and signed.
In addition, all known topsoil stockpiles on the Climax site were located, inspected
visually, and signed appropriately. Many of these stockpiles aze in excess of 25 years
old. All were well vegetated and stable.
2.5 Weed Control
Climax's program of weed control continued in 2005. A copy of the final report on 2005
weed control activities by Habitat Management, Inc. is attached.
3.0 2006 Activities
Scheduled reclamation and construction activities at Climax during 2006 will be as
extensive as 2005. The following reclamation-related projects aze being planned:
• Completion of Robinson Tailings Impoundment reclamation.
• Restoration of the East Fork Arkansas River channel through the
Storke Yazd (planned as a 2+ yeaz restoration project).
• Remediation and reclamation of historical mine waste from Seazle
Gulch.
• McNulty Waste Rock Dump grading work.
• Experimental reclamation project on Ceresco Ridge outslope.
• Continued visual enhancement reclamation projects.
• Assessment of Lake Irwin far wetlands development.
• Sitewide materials and growth media survey.
