1996 Annual Reclamation Report -Raton Creek Mine
Fage 2
2. Pond tailings pit area (Map Area 'B')
During Febniary, EFMC seeded the area located south of the sediment pod that was disturbed
the previous year. The disturbance comprises an azea of approximately 0.1 acres.
The area was planted by broadcast seeding with the approved seed mixture and rate described
above. In addition, the area was mulched and crimped following seeding.
Previously Revesetated Areas
EFMC revegetated approximately 26 acres of the reclaimed mine site area, including the
areas described above, during the spring and fall of 1995. The outline of the revegetated area
is shown on the map accompanying this report.
Backfilled. Graded. Tonsoiled, and Revegetated A_r??c Summary
Reclamation activities during the reporting period, completed according to the approved
reclamation plan, are listed on attached Table 1, 1996 Mine Site Reclamation Summary.
Conclusions
EFMC completed appropriate reseeding on approximately 3.2 acres at the Raton Creek Mine
during the reporting period. Vegetation on the mine site is predominately annual weeds,
volunteer wheat, and milkvetch. The seeded species exhibited very little germination during
this first growing season.
EFMC will continue to closely monitor erosion control and vegetation success on the
reclaimed areas. Overall reclamation of the disturbed areas continues to effectively minimize
the mining impacts and promote establishment of the site to its approved postmining land use
capabilities.
